Program Abstract

This program introduces the key issues responding firefighters face at commercial/industrial structure fires involving rooftop solar arrays through the case study of a fire in Cumberland, Rhode Island. The module addresses key rooftop solar array components, potential hazards, typical fire suppression tactics for those exposures, and pre-incident planning for properties with rooftop solar arrays.

FM has a longstanding, deep commitment to assisting the fire service through training, education, and grant funding in fire prevention, fighting fire in sprinklered buildings, fire response to commercial/industrial properties, ignitable liquids and gases, pre-incident planning, and fire protection systems.
